Notes from the River

On Saturday afternoon I embarked on a treacherous journey to the heart of Orange County: a restaurant next to the old Mission San Juan Capistrano. Below are some of the thoughts I had during my perilous crossing (of the county line).

• The Citadel building is so cool I wish it wasn’t a fucking outlet mall.
• The Discovery Cube looks kinda fun.
• Why are there so many office parks here? Who works here?
• Why is the Irvine Spectrum Center so big?
• The economy is dog shit, who is shopping at all these malls?
• Why are the so many cars, who else is crazy enough to drive across the Southland on a Saturday afternoon?
• What a beautiful sunset, too bad I have to look at it FROM A FREEWAY IN BUENA PARK!
• This is the best album of all time (I was playing my Rumors CD).
• Imagine if this could be a train ride and not a contribution to the air pollution of the Greater LA Area?
• Crap, I’m going to have to go get gas at Costco after this.

I’m pleased to announce that I made it home safe after my trek (and a lovely dinner with friends). Until next time, Orange County, I won’t miss you.
